We’ve bought a house!
As of the first of October, all of the finance has been approved, the legal stuff sorted, and the paperwork signed.
Let me tell you about the place:
The house is located in Bendigo, a small regional city in the state of Victoria about 2 hours drive from Melbourne (where we’re currently renting).
The house itself is a cute Victorian-era weatherboard cottage built in 1870. It’s a really good size (space for a craft room, yay) and has some beautiful period features including high ceilings, wooden floors, and a small stained glass window in one of the front rooms (it has a rose, it’s COOL AS). It also has working fireplaces in a few of the rooms, which is AMAZING.
(The closest thing I’ve ever had to a fireplace was the pile of paper towels/matches/empty toilet rolls my sister and I used to burn in the kitchen sink as kids when mum wasn’t home. Stupid, yes, but we felt incredibly badass doing it.)
Get outta here with that flower picture and show me the damn house:
I really want to share pictures with you guys, but I don’t have any that I can share until we get the keys.
The sellers needed a longer 90 day settlement period, so we’re getting the keys on the 3rd of December. With that in mind, I’ll probably post pictures in early December (if I haven’t been buried under ten moving boxes by then). I’ll share them both here and on the Facebook page.
The whole thing hasn’t properly sunk in yet. I think I’m too busy trying to figure out how to organise moving everything without exacerbating my illnesses too much. I think once we’ve moved in, it’ll all suddenly hit me and there will be a lot of ugly crying. But at the moment, after moving around constantly for the last decade, I’m really looking forward to finally settling down and having the opportunity to create a home.
I hope you have an amazing week!
